Happy family, good and warm teachers, nice school and fun activities. Life turns slow and a bit out-of-fashion over there. Every mise-en-scenes were controlled to portray the old, nice, heartwarming reminiscence.

The setting was in a small town, not clearly specified in the movie (but the credit shows that it was in Ratchaburi Province). The lead actress Pimchanok Luevisetpaiboon, who usually had the minor roles in previous works, came to light for the first time and proved herself as one of the rising stars of the next generation. The lead actor Mario Maurer has his best role since his acting debut in Chookiat Sakveerakul’s Love of Siam. Even the famous female comedian Tukky Budprom tones her usual exaggerated performance to make us laugh without being over the top. Everything in the movie was kept at the minimum - natural performances like what happened in our daily lives. Finally, on Chone’s high school graduation, Nam decides to confess her love to him.Īt first glance, A Crazy Little Thing Called Love looks like a puppy love movie that could be only attracted to young female audiences. Gradually, boys start to notice her, even Chone’s best friend. Later, she is asked to be the drum major of the school’s marching band. First, she auditions for the lead role in the Drama Club’s Sleeping Beauty in order to be close to Chone who joins the arts department. But with the support of her three best friends, Nam revolutionizes herself, starting with her looks and activities to get him to notice her. It is her who always sneaks to see him during breaks, mornings, and afternoons. She has nothing that can make him notice her. But surprisingly, it was a male viewer who went to see this movie up to 20 times - the highest record so far.Ī junior schoolgirl Nam (Pimchanok Luevisetpaiboon) falls in love for her schoolboy senior Chone (Mario Maurer) but is afraid to show her feeling to him, partly because Chone is the everyone’s idol and Nam regards herself as unpopular, homely looking, and average. Moms and daughters went to see this movie together. As a norm in Thailand, women are not supposed to court the men first. The film’s clever promo line “based on everyone’s true story” drew all generations to see this unrequited love story possibly shared by every female viewer. It happened with Puttipong Promsaka na Nakorn and Wasin Pokpong’s A Crazy Little Thing Called Love. But it can sometimes happen with young audience and romantic films. it isn't THAT bad.It is not common for Thai moviegoers to pay to see one movie over and over again. I just felt it was a little childish/unrealistic, but don't make that stop you from watching the film. I don't want to spoil the movie so i won't say why. Luckily, in this movie, they make up for it by the end of the movie.

As already stated by another reviewer, beauty is one of the themes in this film, and most probably know that, not only in thai media, but in most asian media, light skin is seen as beautiful. There are bad point's about this movie though. The movie is hilarious throughout and it's just so relatable, it makes you feel SO nostalgic about those days in primary/middle/high school days when we are all oh-so foolish.

They know how to do rom-coms to their best and purest form. I find thailand rom-coms in general to be very unique, and it's a good kind of unique. The plot isn't anything special or out of the blue, it follows the usual rom-com setting and process but there are scenes that are unique in themselves. This movie is a really great romantic comedy and it's really suited for those times when you just want to watch something quirky, fun, but still has those serious moments. I had never watched a thai movie before but my best friend (who's thai) was telling me how she had been rewatching it all weekend and that we had to watch it together. Rewatch Value 9.0 The first time i watched this movie was in grade 11.
